Who Built This

Steadwell was built by someone who, probably like you, considered themselves pretty okay. When I lost my job, the hardest part wasn't looking for the next one. That was difficult, but at least I had an idea of what needed to be done.

Instead, it was the weeks of paralysis and self-criticism as time seems to fly by and I was both exhausted and feeling like I wasn't doing enough. If I'm lucky, the weeks would be interrupted by the occasional rejection email or spam call that I instinctively pick up hoping it was a callback. Most of the time though, it was just silence and being ghosted. That sapped at me more than anything else, and I can feel every other part of my life wilting at the same time.

So that's why there is Steadwell.

Why This Exists

Job loss is ranked alongside divorce and serious illness for stress impact. Research shows 73% of unemployed professionals experience symptoms consistent with PTSD. There are a lot of tools in the industry that focuses on helping you learn new skills or update your resume, but that's only part of the equation.

None of them address the neurobiological reality of what job loss does to your nervous system. This is a trauma-grade stressor. It hurts.

Steadwell is built on four peer-reviewed behavioral health frameworks (Behavioral Activation, Self-Compassion Theory, Trauma Resiliency Model, and Polyvagal Theory) because the research is clear:

Structure, self-compassion, and nervous system regulation are what actually help people function during this crisis.
